Creating a New Configuration

You use the MegaRAID Storage Manager Configuration Wizard to create new striped and mirrored drive groups or virtual drives. You can create one or two virtual drives on each controller.

NOTE  You can create only one drive group or virtual drive at a time. To create a second drive group, run the Configuration Wizard again. For each controller, you can create two striped (RAID level 0) drive groups, or two mirrored (RAID levels 1 and 1E) drive groups, or one drive group of each type.

You can use the MegaRAID Storage Manager software to create new storage configurations on systems with Avago SAS controllers. For Integrated RAID (IR), you can create a simple configuration specifies a limited number of settings and has the system select drives for you. This option is the easiest way to create a virtual drive.
