Configuring Alert Event Notifications

The Alert Notification Configuration feature allows you to control and configure the alerts that the MegaRAID Storage Manager software sends when various system events occur.

To access this window, select Tools > Configure Alerts on the MegaRAID Storage Manager main menu, as the following figure shows.

The Configure Alerts window appears, as the following figure shows. The screen contains three tabs: Alert Settings, Mail Server, and Email. You can use each tab to perform tasks for that topic.

Select the Alert Settings tab to perform the following actions:

Select the methods for the delivery of the alerts that are generated when events with a certain severity level occur.

The notification options are System log entry, the MegaRAID Storage Manager log entry, on-screen pop-up message, and email. For example, you can specify that Informational events generate only a log entry but that Fatal events generate a log entry, a pop-up message, and an email notification.

Change the severity level of events.

Save a .xml backup file of the entire alert configuration.

NOTE  When you load a saved backup file, all unsaved changes made in the current session are lost.

Select the Mail Server tab to perform the following actions:

Enter or edit the sender email address.

*

Enter the SMTP server.

*

Require authentification of the email server.

*

Save a .xml backup file of the entire alert configuration.

*

Load all of the values from a previously saved backup into the dialog to edit or send to the monitor.

NOTE  When you load a saved backup file, all unsaved changes made in the current session are lost.

Select the Email tab to perform the following actions:

Add new email addresses for recipients of alert notifications.

*

Send test messages to the recipient email address.

*

Remove email addresses of recipients of alert notifications.

*

Save a .xml backup file of the entire alert configuration.

*

Load all of the values from a previously saved backup into the dialog to edit or send to the monitor.
